Guide To Working Benefits Of Spring Return Valve Actuators

Date: dec 30

The valves powered by water brought a new era in the manufacturing industries when it was first developed during the industrial revolution. Since that time, there have been many advanced features added in the technology of valves to use it at different places. Every industry uses Spring Return Valve Actuators, and if you are an engineer, then you are definitely going to see it in any industry you work.

How it works

Generally, the valves used in any machine are operated by humans, but the spring-actuated valves are designed in such a manner that it can be operated by any power source. This is the reason why these valves are boon for the industries as it can be used in any machines at such places where it would not be possible for humans to operate them manually.

There are basically two types of valves:

Fall open valves

These valves stay opened when it faces any failure in its operation.

Fall close valves

These valves get closed when it faces any failure in its operation.

Types of spring actuated valves

There are mainly four types of spring actuated valves. They are

  • Spring return valve actuators
  • Double-acting valve
  • Hydraulic
  • Pneumatic

Working of Spring return valve actuators

This type of valve is also known as a single-acting valve. Just like the name, these spring return valve actuators work when air or any liquid is supplied to either side of the piston. When the air or liquid is filled over the piston, the valve connected to it gets opened or closed depending on the working of the machine. When the supply of air or liquid is stopped, a spring mechanism inside the actuator removes all the air or liquid that’s filled inside and changes the position of the valve accordingly.

Advantages of spring return valve actuators

There are many advantages to using such valves. Some of them are

  • The setup costs or operate this valve are less than those manually operated valves.
  • These valves have an inbuilt failure managing mechanism.
  • These valves don’t require much pressure supply.
  • These valves can be adjusted for different conditions.
  • The maintenance of these valves is easy and cost-effective.

The disadvantage of spring return valve actuators

Some of the disadvantages of using these valves are The output capabilities of these valves are limited.

Alos, These valves cannot be moved manually due to their large size and heavyweight.
